Visit of the Colombier garden

It is in the heart of Aveyron, in a setting steeped in history that you can visit the charming Colombier garden, a garden that is as much of the Garden of Eden as the parish priest's garden. To conceive the layout, the cultures and the smallest details, its creators extensively documented themselves through writings and iconographic documents dating from medieval times. They thus rebuilt the garden in the immediate vicinity of the castle, on the site of the old walled garden. After the earthworks intended to level the ground and remove the rocks, the ground was ready to receive the fruitful inspiration of its creators. A few years later, he presented five faces to visitors who had come to dream of stories of princesses and beautiful knights of yesteryear: the Garden of Curiosities, the carpet of a Thousand Flowers, the Garden of References, the Orchard and the Grande Rocaille. In total, nearly 350 species of plants and shrubs flourish there, all already cultivated in Europe between the 5th and 15th centuries. Let's go for a lesson in botany mixed with the history of long ago!
