How to properly decorate your stairwell?

How to properly decorate your stairwell?

1. Playing with the walls

The simplest solution to enhance your stairwell is to bet on wall coverings. Choose a color that contrasts with the rest of the room or play with contrasts using two colors. If your stairs are hard (like this inspiration), you can paint them the same color as the floor to achieve visual continuity and a tone different from that of the walls to play with the volumes. Another option: wallpaper or gallery wall (accumulation of frames and wall decor). They will decorate your stairwell with originality and attract all eyes!

2. Customize the steps

To decorate your stairwell, you can also focus on the steps. How? 'Or' What ? By customizing them! Country house-style interiors are sure to fall for cement tile mosaics. Fans of bohemian and recycled decor can use scraps of wallpaper (or stickers for stairs) with various patterns to twist their staircase steps. Scandinavian staircases have fun drawing geometric patterns with paint. In contemporary lofts or interiors, we rather imagine spots of light embedded in the steps. Finally, bourgeois or Baroque-inspired apartments can use a stair carpet to give an imperial dimension to the spaceā€¦

3. Change the railing

Tired of the stair railing? Before changing it, have you thought about customizing it? Give it pep by painting it in a flashy color like in this industrial style interior. If you decide to replace it, be aware that the trend is towards semi-open partitions. We like the wooden models with vertical lines which give a feeling of infinite height and which lets the light circulate freely.

4. Bet on accessories

You have no desire to renovate your stairwell and you would prefer to favor a solution focused on decoration rather than DIY? You just have to bet on decorative accessories! This may be an opportunity to create an indoor garden by placing a plant on each floor. Complete with a few lanterns to create a subdued atmosphere after dark. Why not take advantage of this too often untapped space to make storage niches? Placed in crates or on the floor, use your stairwell to store your books!
