Because spring is sometimes delayed beyond reasonable, it is recommended to give in without counting the need to soak up colors and scents from the first months of the year. And for this, nothing like yellow flowers - the color of the sun - to introduce cheerfulness to our gardens. Nature is a great master in the matter, when it happens to cover moors and entire hills with broom and gorse. As if pure gold had spread over the earth. Why not be inspired by it, by introducing this color synonymous with joy around our houses, either by small touches within the massifs, or by large flat areas by garnishing our hedges with forsythias or Japanese coretes with branches so rich in flowers they appear to be on fire.

J-F. Mahé ## The gorse Who rubs there pricks himself! With its sharp thorns, the gorse is the ally of the wild fauna which will find a safe shelter between its branches and in the plots which it likes to colonize. The walker's approach will be quite different: impossible to fight your way through these big bushes without a few scratches! Like broom, and sometimes mixed with it, gorse can be established massively to the point of covering entire moors. This is often the case in Brittany, of which it is the symbol. And in the spring, what a fabulous spectacle when one of these vast expanses of intense yellow, even under the gray sky that sometimes threatens! Without counting the exceptional smell, which evokes that of coconut, and which makes the strolls in the gorse fields quite bewitching.

J-F. Mahé ## The wallflower It is one of the most heady flowers of spring. But where does this plant, which feeds on nothing to the point that it can grow in a simple crevice of a wall, go to seek such scents?

J-F. Mahé ## The daffodil Heavy head leaning towards the ground or proud head raised towards the sky, the daffodil takes on multiple appearances and ports depending on the varieties. But each time, the simple charm of this corolla operates to the point that it is one of the flowers that we have the most pleasure in picking and introducing at home in the form of bouquets filled with light.

J-F. Mahé ## The forsythia Twigs that suddenly catch fire. This is how we can present forsythia, whose intensity and extent of flowering cannot fail to surprise, especially since it barely occurs during the closed winter episode. It is a splendid shrub in spring, of less decorative interest then, but so easy to cultivate that it would be wrong to deprive itself of its pleasure, whether as an isolated subject or in strict or free hedges, solo or mixed with other varieties of shrubs.

J-F. Mahé ## Corète du Japon A little obsolete Corète du Japon? Yes, but… ! With its orange-yellow pompoms, this shrub brings welcome cheerfulness during the first months of the year. The double flowered variety presented here is probably the most flowering. When you are not satisfied with short flowers and you want to see color and radiance enlivening shrubs and hedges, this very easy-to-succeed variety works wonders, just like forsythia.

J-F. Mahé ## The mahonia In the spring, the shiny foliage and a sharp sprig of the mahonia spreads on the top of the branches to give birth to large clusters of yellow flowers. Their fragrance is powerful and even insects find their interest there thanks to their strong melliferous power. Enough to make the bees pleasantly wait while waiting for the more massive blooms of early summer!

J-F. Mahé ## The primrose No spring without this little flower which is the official announcer. From an almost white yellow to a yellow buttercup depending on whether we are dealing with a natural or horticultural variety, the primrose manages to flourish in the most confined places and to radiate despite its legendary discretion which makes him hide behind his thick leaves.

J-F. Mahé ## The sedum The sedum is a plant that we can only advise the lazy gardener. Many hardy varieties are able to face our winters without damage. In the spring then, they wake up and emit pretty yellow flowers that brighten up the low walls that welcome them. From year to year, the plants settle and multiply without outside intervention. We told you: an ideal plant for those who appreciate gardening effortlessly!

J-F. Mahé ## The tulip After a while, men tore and ruined themselves for the pleasure of owning this highly prized flower. From an onion that looks like nothing is born in spring this flower of fragile appearance, but whose beauty when it takes the light is without equal. Yellow, red, pink, two-color ... the tulip can take the tone of your choice.

J-F. Mahé ## The Icelandic poppy With an appearance so fine that you would think it was made of silk, the Icelandic poppy is however anything but vulnerable to the cold. What does he fear most? The abrupt rains of spring, which make him lie down and lose his pretty petals. The evil is repaired however in a few days the time that other beautiful flowers - sun color, but also pink, white ... - come to take over. In summary: a graceful flower, easy to live with, precocious and much more rustic than its appearance suggests!

J-F. Mahé ## The mimosa So quickly and so early in flower that we almost forgot it once the "real" spring arrived. The mimosa with branches adorned with charming straw yellow pompoms is not unconditionally offered. To flourish, it needs the guarantee of a temperate climate where negative temperatures are rare, oceanic and Mediterranean climates being those which suit it best in our countries. So, what magic is that of its flowering, so bright and fragrant!
